Vice President of Turfgrass Sales for North America
Duane Klundt looks for quality and dependability in both products and people. He focuses on the long game; evaluating products not only on performance, but also on the long-term benefits they provide to users. And he looks at people as if each was his only customer and his job depended on their long-term satisfaction.
Born in Pierre, South Dakota, Duane’s family moved to the Willamette Valley in Oregon, where, as a teenager, his first foray into agriculture involved plowing fields and bucking hay. A communications major at Pacific University, he abandoned a career in broadcasting to follow a winding path back to agriculture, first as a seed cleaner man for a local seed processing plant. It was there he discovered that there was more to grass than mowing it.
In 1983, Duane joined Turf-Seed Inc., of Hubbard Oregon, then later, The Scotts Company, before joining Grassland Oregon. He has served in leadership positions with the ASTA lawn seed division, the Oregon Seed Association, the National Turf Evaluation Program policy committee, the Pacific Seed Association and the OSU Grass and Legume committee. He has also served on the Board of Trustees of Turfgrass Producers International and the Lawn Institute and served as a director of the PSA, on the Oregon Seed Council Seed Services advisory council, and the OSU Certification, Foundation Seed and Plant Material Advisory Committee.
Duane and his wife, Dana live in Canby with their son Devon.
